How does the Office of International Programs communicate with the international student population?

International Listserv

The international listserv is a broadcast email that allows the Office of International Programs (OIP) to contact all international students at Duquesne with important updates and information.

Please look for messages from the Office of International Programs from the following email address:

international-list@lyris.duq.edu

The OIP will automatically sign you up for the international listserv. Make sure that you DO NOT BLOCK this email address in your email account, otherwise you will miss very important information.

Blackboard

Blackboard is a university-wide internet communication system. The Office of International Programs will enroll you with an account to the Blackboard system at the beginning of the year.

The OIP will post important announcements and information for international students to Blackboard on a regular basis. You will also find information on:

  • Immigration
  • Off-Campus Housing
  • Events

The OIP will also send a reminder through the listserv for you to check Blackboard on a regular basis. You may also be assigned to Blackboard for some classes and other activities on campus.

To Logon to Blackboard for the first time:
-Go to: www.blackboard.duq.edu
-Username: The first part of your Duquesne University email address -Password: your first initial + Your DU ID number
-Click on the “International Student Information” page to access all the information.

Cultural Ambassador Program

As cultural ambassadors, current Duquesne students volunteer their time to help new international students assimilate into their new surroundings at Duquesne. In addition to helping them in Pittsburgh, current students should also be willing to answer any questions new students may have about Duquesne and about the city of Pittsburgh.

If you are interested in the Cultural Ambassador Program to help new students at Duquesne, please contact Philomena Bolea at: bolea@duq.edu.
