Ghana
University of Ghana - Accra

University of Ghana
The University of Ghana was founded in 1948 as the University College of the Gold Coast and became the University College of Ghana when the nation achieved its independence in 1957. Located in Ghana ’s lively capital city, Accra , the university has an average enrollment of 6,000 students (approximately 100 of whom are Americans each semester).

Ghana is a beautiful, tropical nation with a stable democracy and a well educated population that is very welcoming of Americans and Europeans. Although it boasts a vibrant nightlife, Accra is not a tourist hotspot, making it a wonderful place for overseas students to have a genuine and integrated cross-cultural experience. Students attend classes with their Ghanaian counterparts and are examined in the same manner and held to the same academic standards.
