Japan
Sophia University

Founded in 1913 by Jesuits, Catholic Sophia University is one of Japan ’s leading private universities. Its mission is one of promoting humanitarian values, a liberal spirit, and international awareness. Located in Tokyo , the university has a student body of 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 1,000 tenured and adjunct faculty. Sophia University ’s location in the heart of Tokyo , near the National Diet and Imperial Palace , is easily accessible by train and subway.

Beautiful and exotic, Japan is a nation rich in history and traditions. It was among the first Asian nations to embrace industrialization and technology and has been an economic leader in the post-World War II era. Although it has vigorously embraced the demands and challenges of modern technology and life, it has also tenaciously retained its cultural traditions, aesthetics, and respect for the individual.
