UNIVAC Spanish Language Center
Cuernavaca, Mexico

UNIVAC is located in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, about one and one half hours south of Mexico City. UNIVAC, the University of the Valley of Cuernavaca, was founded in 1994 and has become one of the most prestigious private universities in the state of Morelos. The university offers degrees in Business Administration, Law, Computer Science, Accounting, Education, Industrial Relations, and Journalism. The Spanish Language Center is a new addition to the university. Students enrolled at the Language Center have access to all the university facilities. Those with Spanish language proficiency may take regular university classes with Mexican students. An important feature of the Center is the Mexican brother or sister program. Students will have a designated person from the university or its secondary school as their Mexican brother or sister.

Cuernavaca is the capital and the largest city of the state of Morelos, and is home to about 750,000 residents. With this convenient size, it is large enough to provide the attractions of an urban environment, while maintaining its small-town feel. Cuernavaca is known as "The City of Eternal Spring" due to its temperate year-round climate, prevailing sunshine, and abundance of flowering trees and bushes.

Housing and Meals
To benefit from the total immersion experience, it is recommended that students live with local families. Families have been carefully selected and have worked with the Language Center directors for many years. If they live too far from the Center for a student to walk, the family will provide transportation to and from the school everyday. Students are also able to secure their own housing arrangements. Three meals a day are provided with home stays.

Services Provided
Excursions are planned throughout the year to expose students to Cuernevaca and various cities and archeological sites in the region. Optional activities offered in the afternoons include the opportunity to volunteer at a government-run orphanage, cooking, craft, or salsa dancing classes, films, and many conversation opportunities with university students.
